I do not know what it is about this time of year, but it makes my hands itch to be creating, specifically with yarn. I just love knitting, though I am especially not great at it. I can do straight lines only, garter stitch only, and I basically only make headbands and cowls/scarves because of the whole straight lines only. I'm mostly okay with this because I really enjoy the actual creation part. When I sew something, I sometimes enjoy the process, but am usually doing it for the finished product. When I knit, it's all about the experience. And the pretty yarn- I love looking at and feeling the yarn over and over. I love seeing how far I've come. I love bringing a project with me when we go out, and pulling it out of my purse when we go out for coffee or dessert. I enjoy the maneuvering of the yarn and needles while I talk or listen- I feel it's easier for me to concentrate when my hands are busy.
Don't get me wrong- I do enjoy the finished product, but it's never perfect, and is not where I place it's worth. It's definitely the experience (okay, & the pretty yarn!) that keeps me coming back over and over for a new piece to work on.
