Mish Mash

Untitled

I'm on my fourth day of being at home. I was officially given my papers on Thursday and technically am employed through the end of the month, but had a few personal days to use or lose, so I'm definitely using them. In these few days, I've:

brunched with girlfriends twice.
inadvertently began training my hair to not be washed every day. (send the hygiene police. Better yet, don't- I still shower. Also, I just ordered this on Nat's suggestion. I'm serious about training my hair to be low maintenance and to look good.)
finished a runner for my dresser.
crafted with friends at Hip Stitch & made little baby gifts for the friends that are popping out (& adopting) those cute babies.
been knitting. Yes, another cowl because I just cannot seem to help myself and learn how to knit anything other than a straight line.
made my first from-scratch chocolate chip cookies.
lusted over Lotta's gorgeous Gee's Bend inspired quilt(see above photo). You know this, though, if you follow me on pinterest and have ever looked at my quilty pleasures board. I love this Gee's Bend look and am determined to learn more and to definitely make myself a comparable bedspread this year. Preferably in the next month or so.
received my first parking ticket. I guess that's not that bad at the age of thirty, but I'd have rather not received one. The story is that while brunching with my friend Kim on Friday, I parked on the street in front of The Grove like Gabe & I often do, but I forgot that it was Friday and not Saturday or Sunday like it usually is when we go there. Because who gets to brunch on Fridays? Well, I guess I do now, but I forgot that you have to feed that darn meter when it's Friday. The kicker? I looked at the time on the ticket, & I was honestly at my car within less than 10 minutes after the ticket was left on my window. Boo. Unlike.

So, these are a few (ok, most) of what I've done on my last few days off. It hasn't been unpleasant, that's for sure.

I hope you've also had a lovely weekend and that you did not get a parking ticket like me.

  1. hey mandie, didn't realize you'd officially been laid off, i'm sorry girl. glad you've filled your first days at home with some fun activities! hoping that there is some kind of severance package.. neither of my two layoffs in the past included one & that made for a difficult transition. praying for a new opportunity for you!
